| THE VOICE OF GRACE IS A BAPTIST CIRCUIT-RIDING MISSION Our calling is to folks in rural communities, especially those in cattle and horse country. OUR METHODS We purpose to use Bible based activities as did the original circuit-riders. Personal encounters, Bible classes, cowboy gatherings, and community evangelism are some of the programs used. We serve rural churches in pulpit supply, conferences, VBS, camp meetings, and helps necessary in new church starts. OUR PURPOSE We want to win folks to Jesus Christ. Most churches in rural areas are small. Very few can reach all those in their county. Our calling is to minister to those who are being missed by the more traditional efforts of ministry. The primary thrust of our mission is to guide converts into area churches. When necessary we expect to be used to start or restart churches under the oversight of First Bible Baptist Church of Great Bend, Kansas or other like churches that may be closer to a given area. OUR CONSIDERATION The ministry to rural America is different than in the large communities. Ask these people and they will be quick to tell you how different it is. The smell of new mown hay, the call of a new calf or foul, the feel of a good saddle or a new pair of boots, nothing in the city can take the place of that in their life. A ministry that reaches them must build on that life and not destroy the important foundation God has given them. Many of these folk are considered poor, yet they have so many riches that they can never spend or take to the bank. We tell our foreign missionaries not to Americanize, but to evangelize. Our work is to bring the Gospel into the existing environment and let the Lord convert the soul. He then will make better the good and take away the sin. The Bible is our guide, the Lord Jesus is our Strength, the Holy Spirit is our overcoming Comforter, and converts to Christ as Lord is our constant prayer. OUR STRUCTURE The Word teaches us to be active in home area missionary work. This will then build all other mission work. All mission work is important to a strong Christian and church experience. A circuit-riders work must be built upon a strong relationship with local churches as set forth in the Scriptures. OUR MOTIVATION As I look back on my salvation experience I feel sure that if a circuit-rider had come by I would have responded to his ministry and it would have saved me much heart ache. No two people have the same problems, but all can find the ultimate cure in salvation. The real question for us to answer is, “What is the value of one soul?” Answer that question before considering geography or environment in our missions labor. God has called us the area of blue jeans, big hats, boots and long hours of sweat and tears. God can help a lot with the tears and bring “abundant life” to as many as receive Him. “ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach except the be sent?” Romans 10-15a. |
